Did you know that June 8^th is Best Friends Day?  My best friends have four paws and fur, and if you are reading this blog, your best friends also probably have four paws and fur.

Dogs have a way of turning an ordinary and routine day into a day that is extraordinary and fun.  So, let’s plan a party and hang out with our Best Friends!

Wherever my dog, Beckham, is – that’s the best place to be.  He’s my best friend and more, because every day for Beckham is just another day full of fun and laughter and love.

The Classic Cocktail – The Wine Bar

At Properly Posh Pets, one of our signature Party Elements is the Classic Cocktail, but since we want this party to be fabulously casual and easy, we planned a wine bar with selections to fit a sunny, sparkly summer day.

Like Lily Pulitzer, we believe that we should “live every hour like it’s happy hour” so let the wine tasting begin!

Adopt a Cat & Plan a “Gotcha Day” Party

June is Adopt a Cat month, so if you are thinking of finding a new Feline Best Friend, the time is now.

The famous writer, Colette, said that time with cats is never wasted, which is so true.  And yet, why do I sometimes feel like my cat is saying to me:  I hear you, I’m just not listening.

But back to parties —  adopting your new Best Friend will give you a reason to throw a “Gotcha Day” party every year to celebrate the importance of you and your cat in each other’s lives.  It will be a reminder of just how much you love them. 

 Party Treats

You may be wondering whether cats like parties.  I have it on good authority from my two Feline Best Friends that they do enjoy being the life of the party when the mood strikes them to be social.  In my house, catnip toys reign supreme as their present of choice – unless I make their favorite — Ali’s “Tuna Fish” Treats.

Here is our original Properly Posh Pets recipe.

Ali’s “Tuna Fish” – Gourmet Cat Treat

Ingredients

• 1 6-ounce albacore tuna in water, undrained
• 1 ½ cups flour
• 2 large eggs

Directions

• Put the tuna and water from the can into a bowl and shred the tuna into small pieces.
• Add the flour and eggs, mixing well.
• Put the dough on a floured surface and turn over to flour both sides. Roll out the dough on the floured surface to ¼” thickness.  Cut into shapes using a mini fish treat cutter.
• Bakr at 350° for 8-10 minutes on a greased or non-stick cookie sheet.
• Cool on a baking rack and store in the refrigerator.
• Recipe makes 4 dozen cat treats.
• Ali’s advice is to break the treats into tiny bites before serving to your favorite felines. 

I Don’t Want to Live in a World without Dogs & Cats

My dog and I are more than Best Friends. We’re like a really small gang (with cats) that lives and eats and sleeps together.  We laugh and cry and have fun together.  I am there for him, and he is always there for me.  No bond is stronger – and the bond is unbreakable.

Once you have had a dog as a best friend, you can never live without that sort of friend.  Is there anything more fun than a glass of wine, laughter, and a good conversation – with your dog?
